A man with serious frostbite after a winter fishing trip is being treated at the Republican Clinical Hospital. This was stated at a press conference in the news agency "Tatar-Inform" by the surgeon of the Department of Purulent Surgery of the Republican Clinical Hospital Ayrat Akhunzyanov.
"This year we have one patient with deep frostbite in the hospital, in the Department of Purulent Surgery. He is undergoing thermal treatment, just yesterday he had an autodermoplasty, and skin defects were hidden," - the doctor said.
A resident of Tatarstan was returning from a winter fishing trip and because of his diabetes, he merely did not feel that his limbs were supercooled.
"The fact is that there is polyneuropathy, people do not feel any pain," - Airat Akhunzyanov explained. According to the surgeon, the patient is going to make full recovery.
In addition to diabetes, obliterating atherosclerosis can lead to serious consequences: patients with it can frostbite their hands and feet after a short stay in the cold.
On average, two or three patients with serious frostbite who require surgical treatment are admitted to the Republican Clinical Hospital every year.
