In Nizhnekamsk Central District Multifunctional Hospital, one of the courses of the University of the Third Age "Fundamentals of Medical Knowledge" has started. The training of older students was supposed to start in October, but the pandemic has made its own adjustments. Of course, now the classes are held taking into account the epidemiological situation. The chief part-time specialists of the Department of Health, chief physicians of Nizhnekamsk hospitals and their deputies will give lectures on various topics to the students.
The audience was greeted by the head of the Health Department Sergey Meryasev: "Many of you spent the past year in self-isolation. The restrictions are removed gradually and we are allowed to carry out activities in compliance with sanitary and epidemiological standards. Some of you attend our course not for the first time – this is new acquaintances, meeting with old friends and communication. The theme of our lectures will address the most common diseases of the cardiovascular and endocrine systems. Doctors will tell you about the prevention of these diseases and explain how you can provide first aid to yourself or your loved ones in a critical situation".
Sergey Meryasev also recalled the importance of vaccination against the new coronavirus infection for those who are at risk – these are elderly people over 60 years old with chronic diseases – arterial hypertension, diabetes and respiratory diseases.
The chairman of the City Council of Veterans Grigory Kitanov, the chief physician of the Nizhnekamsk Central District Multifunctional Hospital Mars Mustafin and the chief physician of the Center for Public Health Ravil Garipov made welcoming speeches. "Our course is held for the third year and every year the number of students is growing and this is good, because then the older generation carries the knowledge further, and our students can help themselves, their relatives, children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors," said Ravil Garipov. - Mortality from cardiovascular diseases is in the first place today, so our main task is to explain to people how to respond to heart pain and in what cases you need to see a doctor to prevent cardiovascular diseases, and when you need to call an ambulance. Of course, there will be lectures on other topics – first aid for injuries sustained at home, on the street, about proper dental care, gynecological diseases in the elderly age, and much more. We will accept everyone for this course as long as there are free seats in the conference hall."
And after the official part, the first lecture was presented by the chief physician of the Dermatovenerologic Dispensary, Alexander Karpov, who spoke about skin diseases in the elderly persons and their prevention.
The classes are organized by the Department of Health, the Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention, the Nizhnekamsk Central District Multifunctional Hospital and the Veterans Council.
