7 principal rules of prevention of gastrointestinal diseases

Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation declared a Week of prevention of gastrointestinal diseases from February 12 to 16. 

Gastrointestinal diseases have different symptoms: stomach ache, appetite loss, belching, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, weight loss, bowel disorders, weakness and flatulence.

Preventive measures are the following:

  1. Quality of diet. It is necessary to eat frequently, in small portions. Breakfast is the most vital meal of the day.Hand hygiene, food washing, heat treatment are obligatory to prevent from harmful microorganisms.
  2. Balance diet. Consumption of fried, greasy, smoke-cured, salted food is discouraged. It is also important to increase the number of fruits, vegetables, cereal, bread with bran.
  3. Avoid overeating and stick to a moderate diet without starving.
  4. Smoking and alcohol deteriorate digestive organs, causing heartburn and tissue death.
  5. Coping with stress, quality sleep, fresh air help to improve both digestive system and overall heath.
  6. Limit of fizzy drinks and coffee. The recommended dosage for coffee is 2 or 3 cups a day.
  7. Physical activity positively impact on digestive system.
