Challenge for surgeons: difficult operation for a patient after a heart transplant

3 December 2025, Wednesday

Surgeons chose a minimally invasive technique. After a few small punctures, the affected area of the esophagus was removed, and stomach plastic surgery was performed simultaneously. The operation was performed in the patient's position on his stomach, which reduced the pressure on the transplanted heart and provided the safest possible conditions for intervention. This approach has made it possible to reduce injury and minimize risks — a key factor for patients after transplantation.

The operation was successful, the patient was discharged and continues rehabilitation. This unique clinical case proved that even the most difficult patients, standing at the junction of two serious diseases, have a chance. Today, medicine is able to find solutions that until recently seemed unattainable.
