Botulinum to help: a new method of treating cerebral palsy in KCMC gives children freedom of movement

The Kama Children's Medical Center has begun to introduce botulinum therapy, a modern treatment method aimed at correcting muscle spasticity in patients with cerebral palsy.

Cerebral palsy remains the most common cause of movement disorders in children, significantly limiting their motor development. Botulinum therapy, based on the targeted injection of botulinum toxin into spasmodic muscles, provides temporary relaxation, which opens the way for more effective rehabilitation and improved quality of life for young patients. "This therapy helps to relax tense muscles, which improves limb mobility, reduces pain and normalizes gait.

The procedure is performed under ultrasound control, which guarantees the accuracy of the injection of the drug directly into the muscle and minimizes the risks," says Edem Sakaev, head of the Department of Pediatric Medical Rehabilitation. The key point of treatment is the subsequent intensive rehabilitation, including physical therapy, massage and physiotherapy.
