On July 31, Russia celebrates the Day of the Naval Doctor

The holiday is important because it highlights the importance of doctors for the health of sailors. The ship's doctor is the third most important officer after the captain and his assistant.

In the Russian Navy, this position has existed since 1707. The Day of Naval Doctors was established by decree of the Ministry of Defense in 1996. Military medics check the health of the crew, purchase tools and medicines, provide assistance, monitor the quality of water and food, as well as cleanliness on the ship.
