Hypertension is one of the most common diseases of the cardiovascular system in Russia. According to the Ministry of Health, 45% of Russians suffer from this disease.
High blood pressure is the main risk factor for stroke, coronary heart disease, kidney failure and other serious diseases.
How to prevent hypertension?
Ilzina Minnebayeva, cardiologist at polyclinic No. 1 of Almetyevsk Central Hospital, recommends:
Increase physical activity. Exercise or just walk, giving it at least 40 minutes a day.
Control the weight. Calculate your body mass index to find out if you are overweight. Losing weight can help reduce blood pressure.
Give up smoking. Nicotine causes vasospasm, which harms the cardiovascular system.
Limit salt intake. Adults are recommended to take no more than 6 grams of salt per day (about one teaspoon).
Avoid abuse of painkillers and vasoconstrictor nasal drops. These drugs can increase blood pressure and cause side effects.
